📱 Native Sharing in Apps
Use the most convenient way to share content in your app - out of other apps.
Native sharing: seamless content charing from other apps
tchop makes it easy for users to share content into the app - directly from other apps on their device. With our built-in native sharing feature, your app becomes a seamless part of your users’ daily communication and content flow.
This feature enables users to share:
Links from the browser
News articles
Screenshots or images
Videos
Text snippets
— into your app, without needing to switch back and forth manually.
What does “native sharing” mean?
"Native sharing" refers to the integration of your app into the system-wide sharing menu of iOS and Android. That means: Whenever users tap the “share” icon in another app, your app appears as a destination—just like WhatsApp, Slack, or email.
With just a tap, users can post interesting content straight into your content feed, a chat group, or even a private discussion thread inside the app.
Why this matters
Native sharing is not just convenient—it adds real value for your platform:
✅ Boosts engagement by making content contribution effortless
✅ Strengthens community input—users can instantly share what they find relevant
✅ Saves time—no copy-paste, no switching between apps
✅ Makes your app part of the daily routine—just like the biggest social platforms
Whether it's a breaking news article, a useful tutorial, or a funny meme—users can instantly bring it into the conversation.
Secure and controlled
Of course, native sharing follows the same permission model as all other app functions:
Only logged-in users can post
Shared content is posted into areas where the user has access
Admins and editors retain full control over visibility and moderation

How to enable native sharing on iOS
To use the native sharing feature on iPhones or iPads, users need to activate the app’s sharing extension the first time they try to share something.
Here’s how to do it:
Open any app (e.g. Safari, Photos, Notes) and tap the Share icon (the box with the arrow pointing up).
In the share menu that appears, scroll to the end of the app icons row and tap “More”.
Look for your app in the list and tap the toggle switch next to it to enable it.
(Optional) Tap “Edit” in the top right to drag your app to the top of the list for quicker access.
Done! Your app will now show up as a regular share option system-wide.
This step only needs to be done once. After that, your app will always appear in the share menu—just like Mail, WhatsApp or Messages.
Native sharing is available by default in all tchop apps. If you're not sure whether it’s active in your setup or want to customize the sharing experience, just reach out to us.
