Managing logins can be a barrier for many users. Remembering passwords or typing them into a mobile device often creates friction. To make the process easier, tchop offers the option to use Magic Links: a secure and seamless way for users to log in with a single click.

Background

Traditionally, apps and platforms rely on usernames and passwords. While secure, this method often reduces convenience:

• Users forget passwords.

• Typing on mobile devices is cumbersome.

• Support teams spend time on password resets.

With Magic Links, we provide a modern alternative: passwordless authentication. Instead of typing in credentials, users receive a link that opens the app (mobile or web) and logs them in automatically.

Also the magic link works as an extension to the pre definded password we send the user. That means you have the choice to use both or just one of the options.

How Magic Links work

1. A user registers or requests access.

2. They can either:

   • Receive a predefined password (optional, managed by the organisation), and/or

   • Receive a Magic Link via email.

3. Clicking the Magic Link:

   • Opens the web app or the mobile app directly.

   • Authenticates the user automatically, without needing to type credentials.

This method works for both mobile apps (iOS & Android) and the web app.

Important: to let the magic link open the mobile app, the app must be installed first on the user's device.
