🛜 Chrome browser extension
Our Chrome extension lets editors capture and publish content from any website to their tchop channels in a few clicks.
The tchop Curator Chrome extension is the fastest way to capture web content and publish it to your tchop channels. Browse the web, find an article or social post worth sharing, click the extension icon, and publish it as a card. No copy-pasting, no switching between tabs.
What it does
The extension reads the current page and extracts the title, description, source, and teaser image. You can edit all fields before publishing. It supports two card types:
Article cards from any URL (news articles, blog posts, landing pages)
Social cards from X/Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram
After editing the teaser, you select your organisation, channel, and mix, and publish directly from the popup.
How to install
The extension is available for Google Chrome and Chromium-based browsers (Edge, Brave, Arc).
Click "Add to Chrome"
Pin the extension to your toolbar for quick access
How to use it
Log into tchop.io in the same browser. The extension uses your existing session to authenticate.
Navigate to any web page you want to curate.
Click the tchop Curator icon in your browser toolbar.
The extension opens a popup and pre-fills the teaser fields (title, source, abstract, image) from the page.
Edit the content as needed. You can change the title, adjust the abstract, write a comment, remove or keep the image, and choose a teaser style (Standard, Small, Small w/o intro, Big w/o intro).
Click Next to select your organisation, channel, and mix.
Toggle "Display user" and "Publish" as needed.
Click Publish to create the card.
The extension remembers your last-used organisation, channel, and mix selection for the next time.
Requirements
Google Chrome 88 or later (or any Chromium-based browser)
An active tchop.io account with editor permissions or higher
You must be logged into tchop.io in the same browser
Tips
Social posts: When you open the extension on a tweet, Facebook post, or Instagram post, it automatically switches to the social card editor with the author, handle, and content pre-filled.
Teaser styles: Mix different teaser styles within a feed to create visual variety. Use "Standard" for most content, "Big w/o intro" for hero-style teasers.
Quick curation: The extension is designed for speed. With practice, you can curate and publish an article in under 10 seconds.
Troubleshooting
The popup shows "Please login to your tchop account first"
You are not logged into tchop.io in this browser. Open tchop.io, log in, and try again.
The popup shows "Something went wrong"
The page could not be parsed. This can happen with pages that block scraping or require authentication. You can still publish the article manually through the tchop dashboard.
I don't see all my organisations
The extension shows the organisations and channels your account has access to. If you expect to see more, check your permissions in the tchop dashboard.
