Smart onboarding for new users

First impressions matter—especially in mobile apps. To help your users quickly get the most out of your app, tchop offers “Tool Tips”, animated overlays that guide users through key features during their first sessions.

These in-app hints point to important buttons or sections and explain what they do, making onboarding intuitive and lightweight.

How it works

Tool Tips are displayed only during the first few sessions of a user. You have the choice what to put into focus.

• We show only one tip per session to avoid overwhelming or annoying users.

• Tips appear as animated overlays and can be dismissed with a simple tap.

• They’re designed to highlight features users might otherwise overlook.

Users don’t download an app to learn how it works—they want value fast. Tool Tips make that easier, without getting in the way.

Make it your own

You can fully customize the text of each Tool Tip to reflect your app’s goals, tone, and features. Whether you want to emphasize editorial tools, navigation, or social features, you’re in control.

• Max. 700 characters per tip (no line breaks)

• Tips will only be shown when relevant (e.g., no chat = no chat tip)

• If no text is provided for a tip, it will be skipped

Here’s a list of tips that in many cases make sence:

1. Channel switcher

Shown when a user has access to more than one channel.

Sample:
“Simply switch to other channels here in the header anytime!”

2. Chat tab

Points users to the chat section to explore conversations. Only relevant if chat is enabled.

Sample:
“Check out the live chat and find interesting conversations and chat groups.”

3. User Profile

Encourages users to complete or personalize their profile.

Sample:
“Add an image to your profile and tell others more about yourself!”

Multi-language support

Tool Tips can be customized in multiple languages, based on your user base.

• Tool Tip language follows the device language setting

• If a translation isn’t available, it will default to English or German

• To enable this, simply provide your Tool Tip texts in the languages you need
